The basic structure of a lab report as we discussed in class is summarized below.  
Note that your report will always include a title page and a discussion page.  The other items will vary from lab to lab!!

INTRODUCTION:

-topic statement-the most general statement that could be said about the experiment
-review of the existing information
-application of existing information to the experiment
-summary of the intent and purpose (sometimes called the objective)
-the hypothesis (and criteria by which you will falsify or verify your hypothesis)

PROCEDURE

-outline of precise steps
-precautions (for safety or successful completion of the experiment)
-list of apparatus together with appropriate sketches and circuit diagrams

 

RESULTS

         -data
        -significant figures
         -uncertainties
         -uncertainty analysis
         -graphs and their analysis
         -calculations/statistics

DISCUSSION

         -compare expectations (Hypothesis) with the results
         -compare model and system
         -consequences of your results
         -implications and/or predictions
         - be specific, quote appropriate data
        -avoid vague/ambiguous language
