Chemistry 130 CHM 100 Lab  |  Chemical Bonding |  Introduction

This experiment involves investigating the properties of ionic and covalent compounds and combining ions to make new compounds and writing their chemical names and formulas.

The three parts to the experiment are:

  1. Classify chemical substances as ionic or covalent based upon electronegativity differences.
  2. Identify chemical substances as ionic or covalent based on their melting points, solubility, and electrical conductivity.
  3. Combine ions to write the formulas of chemical compounds that are produced by mixings.
